Cancer patient’s fight for doctor recommended treatment

John Middleton of North Carolina has been told without a liver transplant, he likely has about 18 months to live. His doctor has recommended a treatment that he says would give John the best chance of getting to transplant, but insurance has denied coverage, agreeing instead to cover a different drug. NBC News’ Erin McLaughlin reports in our series “The Cost of Denial.”
